250th Anniversary Celebration

Founding of San Francisco & America's Birthday

Fecha June 27, 2026
Hora 10:00 a.m.
Lugar Pershing Square, Presidio of San Francisco

In recognition of the 250th anniversaries of the arrival of the 1775–76 Anza Expedition in San Francisco and the American Revolutionary events of the East Coast — including the Declaration of Independence — we celebrate Anza 250 / America 250: West & East Coasts in 1776. Join us for an entry procession, flag ceremonies, re-enactors, period dress, music, prayers, and the roll call of the 240 men, women, and children escorted to Alta California by Juan Bautista de Anza.

Program of Events

  • 10:00 AM — Formal Welcome & Flower Ceremony
  • Entry procession representing West & East Coast — period clothing warmly welcome (soldado, vaquero, pioneer, military, and more)
  • Singing of the Alabado, as ancestors did daily on their trek
  • Roll Call of Anza Expedition members; descendants honor Californio ancestors with a flower in the memorial display
  • Docent-led tours of the Presidio Heritage Gallery in the historic Officer's Club (12:30 pm onwards)
  • Information tables on Californio history
